Today while I was doing my observations at school I got the chance to have a parent-teacher conference with two parents. My teacher told me what I need to tell them about their son and just left the classroom for I can talk to them by myself. The second parent didn’t know English so I had to talk to them in Spanish. Then I had to call some students’ parents on the phone to let them know that their child isn’t doing well in class and has to stay for tutorials.
My teacher told me that I am going do a very good job in my first year when I become a teacher! She has been teaching for 20 years and has been awarded the “Teacher of the Year” for 3 years already but turned it down.
She told me that I am very patient with the students, understanding, I give them the attention that they need. I told her that I want to teach 6th-8th grade Regular classes.
She also wants to recommend me to the assistant principal for I can do my Student Teaching in that school. She said she wants to because she knows for sure that there will be opening teaching positions in the next year.
This is an amazing opportunity for me and I am very very grateful for this chance that I am getting. I really want to be under her wing when I am doing my student teaching.
She is strict with her students but they know why she needs to be with them. They all love her, show her respect, and they try their best to do their work.
Many of these students’ problem these days is that they are to lazy to read anything and this makes it harder for them to understand questions on worksheets. I help them out by making them read out loud the question they need assistance on. Once they read it out loud we talk about what the question is asking from them.
I am very happy at the moment that this happened today! C=
